I have this incredible anxiety that school will start and I won't be ready. My classroom has been changed but the new one isn't ready yet and we have students in a week. I am also moving into a new department so all these "new" things are making me very anxious. But what I realized is that this is a direct result of T being on vacation now. When I was a girl I was always worried that I wouldn't be ready for school. My mother was not around (working) and there was no money for school supplies or clothes. (So she just ignored it all.)

I used to be so worried that I wouldn't be ready for school. There was no back to school shopping and the first day of school was not any kind of special event. But when I was in school I felt much more protected than when I was at home.

Sigh. With T away, I feel like I won't be ready for school.

Wow! Sounds like a bad "school" dream; maybe you should try showing up naked? Back to school

That's neat you figured out it's because T is away; anyway you can use that and get yourself feeling ready all by yourself? T (and you) would be so proud!

The first week my T was away on a multi-month vacation, I was home that day and got all antsy when I should be leaving for therapy, my body wanted to go out and get in the car and I had a heck of a time checking it! When I figured that out, I just sat and cried, but then I started looking for and logging/writing about things like that and it helped some.

I hope when school starts in a week things are in pretty good order (rather than so confused with the movings around and reassignments, etc.) and you feel "protected" and helped until T gets back.

But T's really there, "behind" you.

Awwwwwww.... didn't you take a pic on your phone? any way you can get it into the computer and print it? then you could take it to your classroom with you and he'd be there while you set up. You could tell him about it in your mind while you did each thing.....
=(

I finally see mine tonight after 2 weeks. I can't remember what she looks like. I have a picture of her too, and yet i haven't pulled it out. Ah well. so much for good coping strageties. =( take care of you!!!

Back to school Back to school Well then, I say a bit of shopping is on order for your new school year! Something for you or something symbolic for the classroom?

You know what Echoes? That is a great idea. It never even occurred to me, for obvious reasons. I am broke as usual but I am going to buy myself something. Hmmmm, what should it be?

Thanks friend.

Miss C Go to the doller store..or look around for adds. There are places that have really good deal on back to school stuff. Like paper for 10 cents and pencils 10 cents. I remeber when I was in school as a kid no supplies no lunch no nothing and then when we were in foster homes the same thing and moving school to school and never feeling prepared. Its not a warm fuzzy feeling. i also have an idea you could do sometime when you have more money its worked to help me, even though i have adopted my neices and have tons of back to school stuff to buy, maybe you could in the futrure get a list from a local school and buy the supplies that lets say a second grader or whatever age seems right to you would need and donate it to the school for a child who shows up with nothing. One year when my daughter was in headstart I bought a coat hat and mittens for a little boy whos mom was struggling to learn how to put her kids first. There are so many kids in foster homes or in reg homes who need the school supplies to go to school and it would brighten their day. Or you could donate a coat or whatever. It may help. Just an idea
