On the front it says:

As the years go by,
we understand
that there really are
more important things
in life than "things."
We develop a tendency
to hang onto people
who make our lives better--
the kind of people
who inspire us
by the way they freely give
of their talents,
the positive way
they look at life,
and the generous way
they share our hearts.

On the inside the card it says:

Because you're that kind of person,
I just couldn't let Christmas go by
without wishing you a day filled with joy
and a year filled with happiness.

There is no way I am giving this to him any more than a third of a second before I walk out the door. I refuse to sit there and slowly wither away while he reads it in front of me.

I haven't decided about what to write/if I should write anything inside the card. I figured the card says enough, so maybe I'll just go casual and not write anything extra besides his name and my name.

The card says a LOT but I don't think it says it all. I agree with I_WMD that you should add something a bit personal. Give him a specific "thanks" or a specific "wish" for the holiday.

Pinky,
Draw him a stick figure with a santa clause hat doing something silly.
It will be just as endearing.

I couldn't really write anything. So I wrote:

I hope you have a wonderful Christmas. (Seriously).

Hahaha, I wrote that because I know he will get it... because I often (even today) talk about how I picture his holidays as perfect and wonderful... and how I envision something silly going wrong like the turkey burning on Thanksgiving. So I wanted him to know that I really meant it when I said that I hope he has a wonderful Christmas. I gave it to him as I was walking out and told him not to open it for another hour, to ensure that I was out of the vicinity of his office. hahahahaaaa
