![]() Now that I have an "official" diagnosis (PTSD/ANXIETY/PANIC/AGORAPHOBIC) and am due to start treatment, what should I expect? So far the intake appointments have left me crying, upset and feeling like a deflated balloon, am I going to feel like this after every appointment? I understand that everyone is different, but with appointments set up with psychologists, psychiatrists, and group therapy, I was hoping someone out there might be able to offer some advice. Thanks in advance for any replies. ![]()

It was my experience that I felt worse in the beginning of my therapy, as I was getting things out. But, that's a *good* sign! I *was* dealing with things that had been stuffed for a very long time! They needed to be dealt with, and they were what was causing my depression and anxiety. In time, I began to feel better.
Today, I am med free and no longer in counseling. I have my ups and downs, of course; who doesn't? But, I try to take care of myself physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually each day. For me, this is a recipe for good health. You too will experience good and bad days in counseling. But, in time, if you are honest and work at the issues you face, you will begin to get better. As they say, time takes time. ![]() Let us know how it goes. We care. Peace! Quote:

Expect that getting better will be one of the hardest things you've done, but that you will be able to handle it. Trust and listen to your body to help you set the pace of your recovery. Be sure to stop and pat yourself on the back and be grateful for every little bit of progress you make. You will need these pick me up moments to get you through the difficult ones. Finally, you are in control so...don't be afraid to do things your own way.
