My ex used to hit me and we were only together about 6 months but that whole time was filled with lying and drinking behind my back etc...

So I just found out today that apparently he married the girl that he cheated on me with and they have kids together and he treats her like gold. So I basically feel like I was the punching bag for his issues and now, the girl that he cheated on me with, is getting all the good. Not only do I feel horrible because it took years to get over it and this is kind of relighting all those feelings I used to have but it makes me feel like maybe I did deserve it. If he can treat another girl fine and not me....

You are well rid of him...Unless he has gotten some kind of help...she will get what you got... No person deserves to be abused or mistreated...Please don't blame yourself..That is HIS issue not yours!! (and now his wife's issue).

I saw a post today that really struck me...(because I have had to go through a LOT of wrong men before I found the right on)...There is a lid for every pot! I hope you find your "lid" soon!!!

Since we never really know what goes on behind closed doors, I'd take the information that he treats this girl like gold with a grain of salt. I know that some people can change... but the odds are not in his favor.

Please, PLEASE do not ever say you deserve to be abused. No one deserves to be abused. Even a person who behaves in a despicable manner does not deserve to be physically abused. They DO deserve to be abandoned in the relationship. But not abused. It's inhumane.

Yes Susan that was me - my mother used to always say that "there's a cover for every pot".

I agree with all the other posters that no one deserves to be abused. This was his problem not yours. He could be married to the Virgin Mary and he probably would be unhappy with her. I agree with AAAA that you never know what goes on behind tha facade(closed doors). I guarantee unless he gets help he will surely do the same to her once the honeymoon period is over. I highly doubt they are truly happy and she will always wonder when it's going to be her turn to be cheated on - serves her right!! You know what break up song I love - 'Gives You Hell - All American Rejects'. I wish I knew how to down load songs but you can look it up. Thank the Lord you don't have to deal with him anymore!!

Some women who have been in abusive relationships, end up choosing the same men, so please try to break that pattern through therapy or some other self discovery. Get it out of your mind that they're living a beautiful life with a picket fence. The best revenge is living well so be kind and treat yourself well - you deserve it girl!!
