I know but still listena and watching that stuff in front of the whole class is way too funny and embrassing. How should some one react to learning about SEX?

Miss A...you are young. As a teacher in public school myself, I want to advise you not to take a cavalier attitude toward sexuality. How old are you, sweetie?
There are many dangers to experimenting in sex in a casual way....first the health risks, which is probably foremost in the classroom instruction. Do not take this lightly! Also, the risk of pregnancy, which, if you keep the child, alters a young life, whether the partner is present or not! Abortion will leave emotional scars as well, and should not be taken lightly. Besides that, and I speak from experience, Miss A, sexual contact can be a beautiful thing, if the commitment and love are there, but do not deceive yourself that casual sex is okay. It is not! It leaves permanent scars if dealt with in such a way. Miss A....I hope you have a loving home, with parents who guide you and care about you. I also hope you will look forward to college for the educational aspects. Seeker |

I would have to agree with, Seeker. I'm also a teacher and let me tell you it is JUST as uncomfortable for US to talk to YOU about this as it is for you to hear about it from us. The fact is, this will be the only time some kids get this information, so it is important. Get through it. Learn what you can and move on.
As a side note, we got our first "sex" and stuff talk in 4th grade (I was 9). It is typical for kids as young as 5 to ask questions about sex and reproduction. Adults give more age appropriate information as you get older (or they should).

lol yup unforntally I don't have the lessons planned the thing is boys and girls will be watching a video in the same room. Then soon they will both be spilt up. Just it's weird the way the teach about this stuff really is lame because kids will know alot more by movies, websites, magerzines etc...

Miss A, just take it keep, hold onto it, and the information will come into play when it's time...then you'll have some decisions to make based on the knowledge you have...a good thing

miss-a honey I don't know what they are teaching is school now but when I went to school sex ed was about starting our periods...we didn't have co-ed sex ed so I can imagine you being embarressed..I know I would be at that age. maybe if you tell your parents you dont' feel ready for this class maybe they could speak you your principil about it. I for one would not want my child in a co-ed sex ed class. I think it makes kids more curious about it therefor promoting it. just my opinion though

I took a class called "Sex Respect" when I was like 15. It was co-ed and we discussed everything from females' periods to males' erections to sexual intercourse.
It is normal to giggle and feel awkward, especially since this is a subject that at your age is "off-limits" generally, and very mysterious. Having taken about a million classes discussing sex in excruciating detail (I'm a psych major), I can say that eventually you can become more comfortable learning about sex in a classroom setting. Honestly, Miss_A, my advice to you would be to handle it as maturely and respectfully as you are able (which for your age might mean you giggle some and get embarassed, and that's okay)- and listen seriously to what they are telling you. It's important info. ![]() PS: Watching movies will teach you just about NOTHING about physiology, sexual problems, or STD's. And it's a very idealized version of sexuality that you see in the mass media. It's not realistic. Don't look to that as your major source of info. As for magazines, it depends on the magazine.

Thank you, I all ready had it lol... First boys and girls spilt up. Talking about periods blah blah etc... know that stuff already. Then I got a free goodie bag with always pads and tampons tampax and a gilr book and a tampon holderbut I want to use it as a ciggrett (fag) holder. Then we came back and boys and girls alked about conception you know protection not getting STI's or getting pregent for girls. Quite a boring day because I knew most of the stuff already for magerzines like Sugar, Bliss or J-17. Also lol this boy got a model of a penis and had to put a condom on it and it was funny because he was messing around.

Wow I remember that day. I was in the 6th grade (12 yrs). They split up the boys and girls and all I remember was that we watched a cartoon where a boy got a triangle erection and they told us not to go horseback riding when on the "rag" and we got a box of tampons.
