I have been trying to work this out in my own head for awhile, and am not succeeding. If anyone can help me figure it out, I would be very grateful.
I am actually in an excellent relationship, maybe for the first time ever. I have been seeing her for about 7 months. She has mental health challenges of her own, and works in the mental health community. She knows some of the issues I have, because I think some of them are obvious. But I don't really talk to her about any of it.
The past few days I have been doing very poorly. I know that she would not be angry or judgemental, that she could understand. I know she is capable of providing good support, suggestions, and advice. I believe that she genuinely cares for me. I know that I appreciate it when she shares her struggles with me.
So why don't I talk to her?

Maybe you're ashamed/embarrassed, or feel as though you're imposing.
Thanks for this!

Soal Quake,

I was thinking the same thing!

Gr3tta,

I would suggest siting down with your partner and have an open conversation with her. If she is truely meant to be someone you want to live your life with she will be open to listening to your concerns.

Who knows maybe you will be able to help her out with some struggle she is currently going though along with helping you out in your issues.

Good luck!
Thanks for this!

My thought is you are concerned she will think less of you and may even break off the relationship.

I hope you are able to talk this through with her. If she is as you describe, talking very well could make the relationship stronger.

Good luck.
Thanks for this!

Thank you eveyone for your good advice. I decided the why didn't really matter. I have been talking to her more, and so far so good.

There's no right or wrong about talking to our partner or not. Trust yourself and realize that you have a reason, even if you don't know what it is. Maybe the time isn't quite right for you or you haven't quite got the words yet, etc. When/if you want to talk to her more, you will.

Thank you Perna! It feels good not to pressure myself to tell her any more than I want to. We have talked about some things, and that seems okay so far. I think I will wait until I feel right about it to reveal more.
Thank you!
