I wasn't sure where to put this but I have GOT to vent.

I work at a call center, as some of you may already know and they never tell us ANYTHING.
Yesterday was my first day back after being out with my laryngitis... and you know, things went hunky dory, etc.
I get a call today (my normal day off) that I'm scheduled to work; no one communicates these things vocally to me; oh, and that my whole schedule has changed in general.
What the sam?
I'm only back one day and they completely switch me around and expect me to know about it? I'm already in trouble for attendance and they've apparently put me back on a 40-hour schedule, which whatever... but it sure would have been nice of them to tell me!

They pull crap like this all the time and then they flail their arms that you're supposed to always be checking your schedule (which is what they'll do this time, I'm sure) to make sure it doesn't change and that it could change on a moment's notice... a little face to face communication would do them good.
If things were moved around for Memorial Day, they should have sent out some sort of bulletin reminding us to check our schedules.

I was glad to be back to work after being so bored, but as always the environment threw me down before I hardly had a chance to get settled back in.

Ugh. Watch out with that schedule change thing. I got screwed once by that. They changed the schedule on my DAY OFF. I had 2 days off in a row. So if I had sunday and Monday off.... I was now scheduled on Monday without knowing. I got some bs that knowing the schedule was "my responsibility" and I was fired over it. Like..was I supposed to call everyday to confirm nobody changed the schedule?

This is the second time they've screwed me with my schedule.
Stupid call centers.
The place that my fiancé works, if they change HIS schedule he gets some sort of popup message that says, "View Changes."

I know they'll give me the bs that it's "my responsibility," too... but their numbers are bad right now, so I should be fine.
It doesn't help that my boss is one of those types that work is the most important thing on earth to him and he expects everyone else to think that way, as well.
I'm sorry, I have a life.
I'm sorry I couldn't come in on short notice, I was celebrating my grandmother's 80th birthday.
I'm sorry that you're a jerk, but I guess you were just born that way! ><

Honestly, if I had another job lined up... it might be a good thing to get out of there, but I don't right now.

What's really annoying is... since I've been having issues with my bipolar... I thought were were on a "trial" period to see if I could handle 8 hour work days... and I work ONE 8 hour day and the next day I'm scheduled a 40-hr week? Seriously.

Yeah, they aren't.
They're unorganized and lack any respect for the human element of their employees.
My pay stubs are being sent to a completely different address from where I live; that's organized for you. Thankfully I have direct deposit.

I think that I'll be fine hopefully.
They got me so riled up that I forgot to wear my engagement ring.

See, here's the kicker... I get this call on my grandmother's 80th birthday that we've had plans for for a month and my supervisor is all, "Is there any way that you can come in... it'll look better..." and I say, "No, there isn't." because it was all so ridiculous.
So, then I ranted for an hour while getting ready and completely forgot to wear my engagement ring to show to my grandma (it was also meet the fiancé day, as well).

Sheesh people, I have a life... unlike some of you!

^_^
The supervisor turned his head on this one... but apparently the way the law works, the whole laryngitis thing has be filed under FMLA hours.
I just wish someone knew what was supposed to happen and would tell me at the time things should be happening... instead of me finding out later, sheesh.

This sounds like one of “those” companies. If you wish to keep your job, review your employee handbook to know all of your rights and responsibilities. In my state they must give you 24 hours notice before changing your schedule without your approval. The up side is they have to notify you, the down side is that it doesn’t matter what you have going on, once they’ve given you notification you’ve got to work.

It may sound like a pain, but really how difficult is it to get into the habit of checking your schedule before you leave at night? I know it’s the principle of the thing, but if you get into that habit it may reduce your stress level.

You must work in a right to work state...
The employee handbook is about as clear as mud, it's awful.

I usually do check my schedule, but I wasn't completely straight in the head since it was my first day back and all.
