I really want to leave my bf...but can't because I'm raising my granddaughter, that has been through allot. She is in counseling. She has allot of behavioral problems. Her counselors told me I need to stay in the relationship for her. That she needs me and my bf. Of course I want to do it for her, because she doesn't need any more turmoil in her life. She really likes my bf. The problem is I don't like him, and it's making me miserable. I keep weighing the options, over and over and just don't know what to do.
He has a very bad temper, starts yelling and going off to the point it scares me. Never does anything for our Anniversary or Birthdays. When he does work, he acts like I should pay him with sex. Never calls when he's going to be late, and sometimes he's really late, sometimes 10 or 11 at night. I could go on and on. You get the idea. Here's another problem, we currently live in TX 1 year now...my family is in VA.....I would have to stay with my dad...I love my dad with all my heart....but he has fooled around with my granddaughters mother....The rest of my family, would not help. They never did, because of my gd's behavior problems The other thing, I don't know if I could handle her by myself on my own. She doesn't listen to me very well, but will listen to my bf... I feel so trapped...don't know what to do....but will sacrifice for my gd......Does anyone have any suggestions? |

Does your boyfriend display his temper in front of your granddaughter?

Hi...yes he does..I have to walk on egg shells all the time. If I say anything to him about the way he treats me, he blows up and makes all sorts of excuses.

Well then it makes no sense why professionals are telling you she needs him in her life. Her behavioral problems will undoubtedly worsen by witnessing his outbursts. You both deserve better than this. You are unhappy, and being unhappy can take a toll on children. If possible, leave. This is not a healthy situation for either of you.
