I received a call today from a temp agency that specializes in medical staff placement. She called and said she received my resume and wanted to know the salary I was looking for and then asked me when I left my last job. I told her I left the last day of May 05.

She said, "Oh, well, umm, our clients prefer a placement of someone who has been in the workforce with in the last 6 months". I said that is fine, but if you reviewed my resume then you would have know I have not been employed since May of 05. She appologized and we hung up.

I am a little pissed because she should have reviewed the resume thouroughly before calling and why the hell would someone submit their resume to a temo agency? For a job right? Most people sumbit because they need employement. Not to be told they needed to have a job with in the last six months. They act as if I have been out of work for years.
I have done this for 10 years, I doubt seriously that the industry has changed that dramatically where I wouldnt know what I was doing or what was going on.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR Why did they even call Why did they even call Why did they even call Why did they even call Why did they even call

I agree, I'd call back and ask to speak to a different staff member, or put your application and resume somewhere else.
That sounds a little ridicules to me. Sorry to hear that happened, and good luck with your future and hopefully better job search.

Sorry about the temp agency. Yeah, that sounds pretty stupid...I mean the part about them not thoroughly going over your resume and stuff.

*hugs*

Sky,

I did question her on the phone. I told her that had the resume been reviewed properly then she would have been aware of when I was last employed (not in so many words).

I may call them back on Monday. I havent decided if I should just let this go or not.

well keep your head up and looking forward. If you also add it up it still hasn't been a year since you worked. I don't know. I would look into something else also if there is something else to look into. I know that if you live in a small town that there are limited options. Chin up and smile hun.
