I've always had memory problems. I can remember a lot of trivial things that have no real use, but I can't remember important things. This issue has really been on the fore front lately. I don't know what to do about it.. I've read that loading up your schedule and staying busy can increase memory function and I've been able to do that but not with any significant improvement. Does anyone out there suffer from poor memory and do you have any suggestions to improve it??

I think first I would have a talk with my doctor, and make sure there are any physical reasons why your memory is lacking.

I'm on several medications, and some of them affect the memory. It is very frustrating! I've read where doing crossword puzzles helps with memory, and I do them all the time. It does seem to help.

There are times when someone is talking about something, and i don't find it particularly interesting -- so I don't pay attention. I don't do this PURPOSELY --- it just happens! Then I end up feeling like an idiot when I mention something that had to do with what they were talking about, and they have to remind me that they already told me! LOL So I NEED to pay more attention --- and use mental "bookmarks" to help retain things.

Best of luck and I hope you find an answer. God bless. Hugs, Lee
Thanks for this!

This is a daily thing for me...it's part of my 'clouded thinking' which can be from either the BP or the anxiety or the meds. It's hard to pinpoint. I will remember the smallest details from 20 years ago. But in my daily life we joke about me having a '5 second rule', if I start to say something and don't finish, that thought is gone forever!

I often have problems with this. If it's problems with forgetting things to do or important dates there are some things you can do. For important dates putting them on a calender or phone can help. My phone will actually remind me a day ahead or hour ahead of time so i can be prepared. IF it's things in the course of a day then i would suggest making lists. I love lists! lol They are good for people who can't remember more than a couple things at a time. And you get a sense of accomplishment when you start checking things off!
Hope this helps. And don't be too hard on yourself. Only elephants remember everything
