My live in boyfriend is totally clueless about mental health issues...so when I try to talk to him about what I am feeling/going through, he is totally clueless. I've tried to inform him, but he doesn't care to learn. He really is a good guy, but somewhat old fashioned in that he doesn't really believe in psychiatry.

That was until recently....I had sunk into a deep depression, where I was crying all the time, not wanting to leave the house, having suicidal thoughts, etc...He noticed a big change, and actually sat and talked with me about what was going on. He really just did alot of head nodding, uhuh's, an okay's...but I know that he listened this time. He even offered to go to the doc with me to explain some of the changes he noticed in me.

I never thought it was possible for him to change, but I guess when things got desperate enough, he was will to learn than to lose me.

I hope you feel better soon. Your boyfriend was a dear to listen and I hope you took him up on his offer.
