I really think that the old idea of marriage was that you married for a family, for financial support because of the vast difference in women's wages versus men's wages. I think now women see they can support themselves, without the obligation of taking care of a husband.

Men of my age were geared to have dinner waiting, a clean house, ironing taken care of, main caretaker of children, etc. In the last 20 years, women have taken more responsibility financially and no longer "want" to commit to long term unknowns with a male counterpoint.

Now, I have met men who stay home with the children while the wife works. "NOW" that seems so strange to me!!! With working men and wives, many of the men are taking more responsibility with child rearing.

Accepting the house husband kinda makes me shiver though. Seems so strange and
emasculating, but if the wife is cool with that, who am I to complain. I would not be cool with it however. Guess I'm old fashioned.
hugs, bj
