My girlfriend is pissed off at me because I don't cry over chick flicks. "Beaches" is one of her favorite movies, and she asked me to watch it; gave me this whole deal about how I was going to cry my eyes out. The ONLY reason I don't like chick flicks is because I don't cry over them and apperently as a female, thats wrong. See, I desensitized myself to movies in like 8th grade so I could watch the horror movies my guy friends did without getting scarred. As I developed sexually, I realized that gorry movies were pretty much my porn. I'm a sado-massocistic freak, what can I say? But I still respect people. My girl use to understand all that. But now I'm a "serial killer waiting to happen" and I "ruin everything she likes" because I didn't cry over beaches. Really? She use to understand me so well... Now everything I do is just so wrong. I don't know how to make her happy anymore...

Well, that makes two of us being serial killers waiting to happen as I didnt cry at Beaches either - and I am female '-) For the record I didnt cry at E.T either, or Ghost. I just dont get that moved by movies, tho I do thoroughly enjoy some.

As for making her happy... you could try asking? Every relationship goes through stale periods, and its funny how some of the things you can like about someone at the beginning end up being the things that you get fed up with later!

I didn't cry over either of those movies, either, but they're two of my favorites. And as far as making her happy, I have asked her. She just keeps telling me that I use to know how, so why don't I now. I showed her my true colors in the very begining. But now I'm half intimidated to because she's either gonna call me a freak, or its going to offend her in some way. And when I try to show her my true colors again, I'm "selfish". So I stop, but then I don't care about the relationship. I'm just so lost..

Sounds like you are stuck in a rock and a hard place - not fun :-(

Do you ever consider therapy together? It can work for some people. I guess there are a few options, ie -therapy, calling it a day or explaining how she is making you feel. Its unfair to feel intimidated in a relationship, and its also unfair to magically know what makes someone happy. You're not a mind reader. People change, people grow, relationships change, and things that might of made her happy then, might not make her happy now. She really should explain some stuff to you - a breakdown in communication is never good. I do wish you all the very best, and I hope you guys manage to work it out - you sound fab, warm and kind to worry, I hope she see's it too.

I really should suggest it... But I don't know if she'll go for it with her work schedule. Its one of the last things I can do; I'm grasping at straws.. But thank you for the compliment, I try to be all that stuff! Lol.
