I have never gone away without my husband and the kids. I have only actually been out for a girls night Maybe 10 times in the last 16 years. I really would like to go visit some of my family that live about 5 hrs away for the weekend. Leave on a Friday be back on Sunday afternoon. I don't even know how to ask my husband for this. Am I totally selfish for wanting to go and not have to worry about anyone but me for two days?? Am I being selfish?? Being home with 4 kids 24/7 is stressful and I just feel like I need a break.

Not selfish at all. Go for it and enjoy yourself. You'll be a better mother for taking some time just for you. Really.

Good grief! There is absolutely nothing wrong with a little getaway for 2 days. Does your husband ever leave for a couple of days? My wife was full of mommy guilt back in 2005, when her dad and mom asked if she wanted to go to Europe with them for 9 days. My wife had never been to Europe. This was an opportunity of a lifetime for her. I can take care of the kids and have done it many times. She worried constantly about what people would think about her going, but I told her she was being too hard on herself.

She went on the trip and had a great time

Good grief, you should have done this a LONG time ago since you have *4* kids! Holy cow, you'll be a MUCH better mother after you get some relief! You should make SURE you do this at least once a year or maybe twice. You've got to get some time away from home in order to refresh yourself!

Don't feel guilty -- that's the LAST thing you should feel !!! You should get a medal for mothering 4 kids. Have fun and pamper yourself. Wish Ii could go with you! LOL

God bless and take care. Hugs, Lee
