We've been dating 3 month. Last week he tells me, "I love you". I was extremely shocked!!! I didn't return the same gesture. A week later I asked him what he meant for those words, "I love you". He tells me "I'm getting really attached you and I'm just confused right now"
I was so insulted because how can someone just say those special words and be confused a week later.
In no way did I pressure him into saying those words to me. I wish he didn't say anything like that at all.
He acts like he's still in high school where he's actually 29years old. I want to dump him because he's shown me how unsure he is about his feelings about us.

((((Jenn)))) I do not know the context or how it happened to come about, if I could take a wild guess, though, he probably just panicked because you did not return the sentiment. And when you asked him to clarify, it probably felt to him like he was being backed into a corner.

Also, after only dating one month, I would also venture to guess he meant he loves how he is when he is with you ( sort of like a mirror sentiment). And that you are loveable. He feels good when he is with you

Bottom line, follow your instincts

Hey there.

I agree with Rose. I don't think he's confused so much as he is perhaps a little scared that you didn't return the sentiment. That's not to put it back on you or make it your fault or anything like that. It just may mean he truly does care for you, and is thus afraid you don't feel the same way. Were it me, he sounds like he did the same I would've done in the same situation.

I think it's a great thing you place so much value on that phrase. It's often overused or thrown out without a second thought. But do be mindful to not allow a respect for it to become guarding yourself from it.

My best,
Harley
