So, despite all my efforts to convince him not to go in to work the next few days, my boyfriend is not listening to me. He has such a strong work ethic that he wont call in sick, even if it means his life. It infuriates me so much. His boss is the typical CEO that treats natural disasters as regular occurrences and so he is not closing the office down like my boss is. My boss told me I could work from home Tuesday, since our area is in the direct path of the hurricane.

I am beyond mad and upset. I waited so long for a boyfriend like him. My life changed around so much when I met him, that if I lose him I feel like I will just fall apart. I am so scared for him, driving out in this storm, my knees hurt from praying and crying so hard.

Im in tears right now. God help me.

I am sorry you are hurting...if your bf feels that he is in danger (and it is not a regular part of his job) can he take a couple of days off? I am sure if he were concerned, he would call in. He is an adult, too, honey and he has to do what is right for him. No amount of worry, pleading or begging will prevent that. He has his own mind and knows what he can manage. Send positive thoughts and try to think of good things. Ask him if he could check in with you during the day just so you can touch base. Also, dont forget to tell him you love him. Everything will be ok.

They might send him home anyway.......with storm being so bad I think a lot of employers are just closing down shop. I hope thats the case for your boyfriend. You are blessed to have him!! Afterall the Fedral Government closed. My daughter works for the Dep't of Transportation in D.C. and she will be home for a couple days at least.
Schools here in Fairfax County Va. are also closed........

Stay safe!!

Dee.

Thanks for all your thoughts! He checked in with me this morning, he made it there safe! I am not one to worry so much, I usually dont, but I have such fear in me. I dont handle loss well, and this negative way of thinking has got to stop!

But Rose you are absolutely right, he is an adult, and I have to treat him as such. Tomorrow will be the worst of it, so Im hoping that if his boss see there is no business to be made he will close the office for tomorrow.

Belle you are right too, if the government is closed why shouldnt the private sector be shut down? Unless youre a doctor I dont see the need for anyone to go to work really. And even doctors are taking time off. My T is not even there today and my appointment was today!!! Not that I would have been going out in this anyway.

But thanks so much for your concern, I do feel much better than I did when I first made this thread.

I am so glad to read bf made it in ok, checked in and that you are doing a little better. Our office in New York is closed and the server is down in NY, so half our office (in LA) is wandering around muttering to themselves (and we are on the West Coast but tied to their server )

Hopefully, your bf's CEO will get his head out of his b*** and everyone will go home soon. In the meantime, please take good care of you, too, and keep posting ... let us know how you are doing.

Bunches of hugs your way!

If you are in the direct path of the hurricane, your house is not any safer than an office building.

Yeah, but if you dont have to drive in it, you WILL be safer. The office building isnt the issue, being on the road getting there is my concern.

He is home and made it safe. He left the office early because his boss decided to leave at 2:30pm and of course didnt tell his workers anything. They agreed to leave at 4pm together because the hurricane was supposed to make landfall at 5pm. Thanks so much Rose for checking in on me!

I am bracing the storm now, it landed in Jersey and is making its way up north. I am ready for it, I just hope it goes as quick as it comes.

Thanks all for your support!

Oh I know tell me about it! At least my boss told me to stay home from work the next two days and work from home. Some people have class and decency and others dont, what can I say.

Of course, if the electricity goes out in their office....no one will be able to work anyway.....that would serve the boss right for that to happen.
