Today is one of those days where I don't want to do the socially acceptable things such as making eye contact or smiling at someone else.

Yeah Yeah, I know, I should play nice but today (like many other days) I feel like it's unfair that a person should be forced into doing these types of things if they don't feel like it. I hate social pressure to conform because I might hurt someone else's feelings if I don't. It's not like I'm going out of my way to be mean to anyone, I just don't want to play the game of fake smiles and "How do you do?" when really I don't care. So damned phony these gestures often are yet society insists we do them because someone might get miffed if we don't.

Anyone else get this way?
Thanks for this!

I have days where I feel, don't ask, unless you really care to know the answer (to the How are You?!)

Before my mom, passed, I was usually cynical deep down, without knowing why. When she died....where were all these 'friends' of hers, checking in on her only daughter? Where are the real people that really give a rats behind?

Oh, I am polite. But, I don't always play the 'niceties' game, either. How are you? Fine/Good, Thank You. Without the reply back. Depends on my mood. I actually have found myself having to make sure I ask, others, when I truly care.
Thanks for this!

People assume that I'm mean because I always keep a straight face. I can't keep a smile on my face because it's something that I'm not use to doing.

Same. I mean, I see a lot of people I would like to talk to but I cannot because:
-I do not know them
-I offend them easily
-it is not the right time to i.e. they are busy
So I might as well give out the "do not disturb" body language like everyone else.
