Do you miss your close friends you had like when you were young? why do people grow apart? Why do people go through high school and then leave their friends behind? That's such a sad story.

True friends stay in-touch, school acquaintanceships are often mistaken as friends. The social aspect of school I think is what we miss more than those brief relationship. Reaching out and beyound the front door of your home and workplace are what helps me. I say it like I'm a pro, but I too fall back into my dungeon and need to get out more at times!

I do miss the few friends that I've had in life, but I know that I have changed a LOT over the years. I'm certainly not the same person. I look at it like this: we no longer share similar beliefs and experiences in our lives. Sad? Yes! But it is reality.

I have a couple friends and the three of us were friends in high school. Now we're 63 and one's in Arizona and one's down in Georgia and we don't get together or even send cards much but I know I could show up on either's doorstep and be welcome/helped or could call them, etc.
Most of my "former" friends like that I'm friends with on Facebook along with cousins, siblings, etc.; I think that's what Facebook is good for, making sure you can get in touch if you feel you need to.

i am still very close to most of the friends i had when i was young. the ones that i am not close to, i still keep in touch. if you go through high school and leaves friends behind, it makes me wonder how good of friends you really were? relationships take effort, and if both parties don't put the effort in to maintain that relationship, of course you are going to drift apart.

I don't miss my friends. I think about them sometimes, but never about contacting them. We just moved and started very different lives. It wasn't sad either. There wasn't really any emotion to it. I thought most people felt that way, but the other responses seem to indicate that I've been mistaken. In which case, I wonder if my high school friends feel differently than I do.

That's a normal thing that happens as you get older. But people change and people move apart. It's good to always reminisce on the good times you had together and how they made you the person you are today.
