It's time to reclaim your finances, in some way, shape or form. You are an adult. She has no right over these. Do you have any neighborhood legal services near you, that could help on a sliding scale or pro-bono? You need to legally get all of your access to your accounts and credit lines, back and away from her. At 18, she really, felt it was OK to list you as a missing person?
Time to get something, in writing from your doctors that states you are legally competent to handle your own affairs, since obviously she is vilifying you as incompetent. Do you know, where she locks up all your paperwork? Time to break that lock and reclaim it, if you must, then run like the wind. The shelters may be able to help you find a place to relocate. And if anything, work with someone there, to help you file a restraining order against this woman. Her rants and raves to you doctors, should be of use! ![]() |

HeartTornOut, yes that kind of place. You may have more than one near you too depending where you live. I would give them a call and see how they can help you. Sometimes they have a waiting list because sadly that many women need that kind of help.. again depending on your area. Their address is usually never listed anywhere in order to keep it a safe place. Abusers cannot just show up there. I am in Canada but I am pretty sure that our women shelters are similiar to the U.S.
The women's shelter can also help you with legal things like Healing4me is suggesting about your finances. So many people that are getting out of these situations do need legal help in some form or another.
