When they say hurtful things, do you wait until a good opportunity and say hurtful things back to them? Or maybe you just ignore them for a day or two, without saying the reason.

Hi Introm, No I do not try to seek revenge or get back at them. Not consciously, at least. I have gone for periods of not speaking, but that was because no matter what I said, they didnt csre. I was talking to a wall. Or even better, teying to scale a barbed wire fence without getting hurt.
I was so desperare, I even tried to talk to "extended" family members for support but they didnt want anything to do with it. I no longer have a relationship with my family because of their abuse. And although it was hard at first and went against everything that I truly ever wanted (to have people in my life that really cared, loved and respected me), I am better off without them in my life. At some point, we have to choose to stop letting them hurt us. ![]() |

When I have a disagreement with my mother, I tend to not speak to her for a little while so we can both calm down.

Not so much directly anymore - I try and utilise the energy to improve my own life instead. Success is the best revenge!

Why wait? I usually cut them to pieces verbally on the spot. This is perhaps why most of my family would never attempt to try to say hurtful things to me.

I simply choose to no longer be a part of that kind of drama and trauma - family or otherwise.
It serves no useful purpose. ![]() |
