Most likely some thing from your childhood. We all have our reasons and unique experiences. For me I was pulled out of the perfect story book family life at age 6 in to a world of fear and depression. I felt betrayed and abandon. As children we all learn and adopt our own coping skills too. All of this effects the way we are. But only a professional can help u sort it all out. Good luck!

Every experience we have in life is stored in our heads, and when a new experience presents itself we run it past all of our past experiences (filters), after which we decide whether it is likely to be good, bad, threatening etc

If abandonment is the sum of your experience it is likely that is what you will expect. However not everyone will abandon you; the folk on this site for instance.....

I feel exactly the same. I am staying in a very unhappy, emotio9nally abusive marriage because of fear of being on my own. I have been seeing a T for 5 months - initially for bereavement issues (lost 5 members of my family this year) but it has brought up lots of other buried feels around being/feeling alone. I am a mess atm. I am also new here. Just wanted you to know you are not alone feeling this way. I hope T can help me sort this out but its so painful.
