My 15 yr old dtr is borderline personality dis. Through this very rough yr, starting high school, changes, etc, we were refered to a program called "Family Preservation" which brought an in-home clinician. 1-2 hours for 3 weeks & our already turned upside down lifes were turned inside out-bad. This woman is very set in "her way of thinking" and it did not work out at all. I fired her. Now I'm being told we are completely cut off from all services, even the ones we origanally had for over 4 yrs. We are on medi-cal (california). When I fired the clinition, she should have told me this-I believe her ego is bruised & is taking this personally as is her supervisor. They tried to cancel an IEP with the school tomorrow....I told the school no, we have to do this for my dtr, its my rights, bla-bla. The IEP is now back on.
I can't believe these "professionals" who were only active with my family for 5 weeks and only 3 visits would go so far as to "forget" that there is a mentally ill child (teen) at the center of all this.
I know I cannot be refused treatment-its the place where we have gone for yrs.
Anyway, thanks for letting me vent & any input would be great.

I am sorry things are being so aggravating. I have a suggestion, I don't know if you do this already or not, but being BPD myself I have an idea what your daughter is going through, it is very important that she not feel she is deficient. People look down on people with BPD, thinking they are totally screwed up and making no sense at all. In reality our needs are quite simple though our providing for those needs is complicated. Basically we need to feel loved and valued. We will test whether or not some one loves us over and over and over again until they are about to pull their hair out but once we know that the love given by the person close to us is unconditional despite all our faults we get better. BPD really isn't as bad as it sounds or other people make it out to be. Your daughter is fine it is just a matter of helping her know that she is fine. That is what makes this whole thing with the professionals all that much worse. How awful for them to put your daughter in a place where she may feel like she is "The Problem". After all--using BPD logic here--if she wasn't so messed up then surely they could have worked with her better. I don't know if I am making sense, or if I am getting across what I mean. Shoot, just give your daughter a hug tonight and forget all that I have said. I think this is too close to home for me. It hurts.
Take care
