Sometimes I feel like an alien on this planet. I don't understand the way humans work. I know I should say, "I don't understand the way people work," but the work "humans" just comes out naturally. Yes, I have studied "people" extensively... I have almost completed a doctorate in psychology. I can give you textbook answers for why people act the way they do, yet I do not internally understand their behaviors. It's almost like I am on the autism spectrum... if given a textbook social situation, I can properly analyze it and provide a solution. Although I can also apply these solutions in real life situations, there is an inherent, deeper lack of knowledge of the functioning of humans. I do not feel like one of them. I have many emotions: love, fear, sometimes happiness, anticipation, more recently anger, etc. yet something is lacking and I don't know what...

The Talking Heads' David Byrne has been said to have similar alienation. Then there's Data of Star Trek TNG who learned to experience human traits such as comedy. What kind of situations lead you to feel alienated?
