What helps? Is there something that is more helpful if your boyfriend/husband do to help with intimacy--the idea of touching, being close & intimate,& eventually have sex?

Welcome to Psych Central. Thanks for sharing what is on your mind.

I think a brief visit to what intimacy means shows it can mean many things
Quote:
Webster’s College Dictionary (2010) gives several definitions of intimacy.

the state of being intimate
a close, familiar, and affectionate personal relationship
a close association with or deep understanding of a place, subject, etc.
an act or expression serving as a token of familiarity or affection
a sexual liberty
privacy – especially as suitable to the telling of a secret

I think these are a start, but defining what you mean by intimacy, physical, emotional or spiritual, might inspire a deeper response.

I think you have to start with the same intention. If one wants a romantic 2 hour getting to know you and one wants a quick flash in the pan, then there is a lot of work to do in that relationship.

If I love a person and have emotional closeness as well as good communication then I am comfortable being intimate. If you are uncomfortable with intimacy then perhaps something is missing there between you and other person
