Hi Friends,

Started on my taxes yesterday. I'm thinking surely I can do my own taxes, and didn't want to pay some outrageous amount, last year it was $175.00 Husband and Taxes, this year. Anyway now that I have been wading through the 1040 instructions and forms, I've started to realize that I wasn't so stupid to pay people to do this in prior years. The part I'm working on right now says I need to read Publication 930, or pay the IRS $380 to estimate a dollar figure. Husband and Taxes Go figure.

To make everything worse, husband has had to major temper tantrums this morning. He is starting a new job on Monday, and I know he is anxious about it. I am too. He is 67, and I really don't know if he has what it takes to work at this point.

Thanks for listening. Feedback from anyone who identifies with either of these issues would be appreciated. Husband and Taxes

EJ

I believe Turbo Tax and H&R Block have an online form that is free.

We found a variety of free sites at the IRS webpage. I believe they call it Free File . Maybe those can help you.

Good luck!

One Day at a Time,

Thank you!

I found the Turbo Tax site, but I'm trying to get my numbers together on paper first.

I guess I need emotional encouragement as much as anything.

EJ--hoping the taxes & husband are resolved! You get kudos from me for even attempting to do your own taxes. I wouldn't know where to start, but I know my husband uses Turbo tax & it takes him a weekend to do it. Plus the aggravation of the Turbo tax software advertising a more expensive & supposedly better version constantly.--Suzy

*** Update ***

Husband is managing his emotions better today.

I have an appointment at a tax preparers this afternoon. At least it is town, so I don't have to drive too far. Husband and Taxes

I only have one receipt I can't find right this minute.

My check for teaching came, so I can pay the preparer. I sure hope I don't owe the government any more money. When I used to make good money it didn't seem so bad.

I think this is the latest I have ever waited. It's not like me to wait this long. I think it is because I was concerned that if I owed any more taxes, I wasn't sure how I was going to pay it.

I love teaching, but make hardly any money, so you'd think I would be all right.

Anyone else out there struggling with taxes this year? Husband and Taxes

((((((( HUGS ))))))) for both of you..... for I know it is hard to try and deal with all that life throws at you and then to turn around and have to be stressed at home as well.

Plus.... my heart goes out to your husband right now for it is a scary thing to think about having to work, leaving the comfort of your home, when you are not emotionally able to take on that task at the present moment on life.

Rhapsody,

Thank you for understanding.

Everyone,

You will all be glad to hear my taxes are done. I spent $202 to have them prepared by a professional, and it was worth every penny!

We are also getting refunds this year!!! This is the first time in at least three years, since that has happened. What a HUGE relief.

Our heating and electric bills were so ridiculously expensive this last winter, I think I'm going to put the refund towards a solar panel!!!!!!

Now I can get back to my class work starting tomorrow.

Hugs to everyone,

EJ
