So, my boyfriend and I have known each other for a really long time but we just got together about 9 weeks ago. To make a very very long story short, he literally saved my life and continues to change it everyday. However, I really seem to be lacking heavily in the communication area. It is becoming a very big problem. But I also feel that it is not just me. I feel like he may not even want to hear what I have to say or sometimes I really fear his reaction. He is very far from and aggressive man. In fact, when we do "fight", he doesnt even raise his voice at me. See it goes like this, I just got a divorce from a man that I spent 16 years of pure hell with. He controlled my every move, thought, and breath. I am so used to what life was like with him that I am really struggling with adjusting to life with Tom. Tom is such an amazing man. He has been so patient with me. He seems like he is trying to understand me but at the same time I feel like he may be getting really frustrated at me. There are a lot of things that he does not like to hear about. He says that he does not want to have the thoughts in his head. But he doesnt understand that if he knows a lot of these things that it might give him a better understanding of y I am the way that I am. Ive tried to explain this to him. This man is becoming a huge part of my life and I do not want to lose him. I am really scared that I am going to and god knows what happens if I do.

He sounds like a really nice man. Unlike your ex, he seems very sensitive, in that, he doesn't want to hear about the bad stuff. Maybe it would be better if you were to keep the details to yourself, if he is not ready to hear them. It may hurt him to much to know how bad things were. There is no need to rush things, take things slow. He will know who you are or will ask for clarification when he is ready.

Do you see a therapist? If so, it sounds like a good issue to discuss with her/him.
