This may seem silly to you, but I was doing yoga moves last night on the floor in the living room of a small apartment. My boyfriend always falls asleep early on the floor and I must have woke him up. He gave me a nasty look and made a remark so I told him to "shut the **** up" - which i understand is wrong.
So I went back into my yoga pose and he started lunging at me like he was going to hit me. He did that 3 times. When he balled his fists I started slapping him and then left the area. When I asked him about the incident this morning he says he didn't remember a thing and claimed he was sleeping. I don't know what to do. I love him but I think we are both mean to one another and that's not love. Any ideas on what to do? |

In the short run:
Apologize and don't sleep on the floor, especially in a small space. Apologize and don't do yoga moves when someone is sleeping nearby. *** Beyond that: It's worrisome that both sides resorted to physical means of carrying on this dispute. How often do you have that type of interaction? |

This is not the first time he's balled a fist at me over something stupid. I have asked him 100 times to go to bed when he's sleepy so I don't have to tiptoe around a 1 bedroom apartment. It's not like I'm being loud at midnight - it was only 9pm. I feel like he controls every move I make in the apartment.

Small chance it was REM disorder. If you want to try you can record him. With these certain disorders that person really may not remember. Then he will have to get therapy. This may or may not make the violence go away though. It's really up to you how much effort you want to put into it. Bill is right the easiest thing to do is just walk away from the relationship it is possible there is some disorder going on though.
