Hi, im new to psych central. And it feels good to join this, i hope you guys would give me some good advice. Well, im 17, introverted and a quiet guy. Its been a year since i changed to another school, and its hard to make friends. Im alone at school with nobody to hangout with me. And ive been talking with my classmate girl on facebook a lot, but we never had a face to face conversation. We smile whenever we see each other in school, but i dont have the words to start a conversation. And i've started to like her. I want to tell her how i feel about her, but i just cant. Im shy, i have low self esteem issues, cause i feel she wont like me. I am fat, but ive been working out to get in shape..im just concerned that a guy like me asking a girl out of my league would feel awkward. Plus i fear being rejected, and it hurts to hide all my feelings for her. So guys, please help me and tell me what to do... (No hate comments please, im new)

You never know until you actually try, as far as being able to go out with her. Although that said, it's understandable the worry about awkwardness in doing so.
What types of things do you talk with her about online? Women do tend to like depth in friendship, and having a deep connection can go a long way. |

How would you feel about telling her online that you feel shy and that's why you find face to face conversation difficult? Lots of people aren't put off by shyness, it sounds from what you write she doesn't mind.

Do not let opportunities like this go by. Trust me, when I was in high school and college I let my shyness get in the way and didn't approach any girls. Now that I am out of school, these opportunities don't present themselves anymore. Also when you are in school, society doesn't really judge you are trying to ask girls out, because that is what you are meant to be doing. It won't be so easy when you are older trust me. Make the most of what you have now.
