My mom is jealous that I acquired a new apartment. So, she keeps yelling at me. Also, she said that someone with mental illness probably rented the apartment before me because the windows and blinds are dirty. Then, she keeps accusing other people of being insane if they work somewhere she doesn't like. I am sick of all the stigma associated with mental illness. I am also sick of my mom degrading the mentally ill. I am thinking about telling her not to come to my apartment anymore because she is trying to put bugs in my apartment.

Since you have your own apartment, you have every right to keep your mom from going inside. You can try to talk to her about all the bad things she's been saying, but that doesn't always work. So, if you feel like you need to keep her out of your apartment, do so. Especially since she's trying to put bugs in your apartment.
Thanks for this!

Are you sure that she's trying to put bugs into your apartment? What evidence do you have for that? I just ask because well.... that I think is a possible delusion/hallucination that you may be having. If she's jealous of your new apartment.... but can afford to bug it? I would question that more, if I were you.

As to her comments about mental health: That sucks. Really sucks. Some people will just never get it.

It really does suck, this woman making those degrading comments about people with mental illness. Even though she is your "mother" I support your decision to keep her away from you. Her attitude towards people with mental illness is sad and disgusting

When you say bugs, what do you mean? I thought you meant that she was putting actual bugs, like roaches, inside your home.

Well, she found something with bug eggs on it and put it in my apartment.

Oh, INSECT bugs?! I thought you mean spying-on-you bugs!

That's a really bizarre thing for her to put in to your house.

She is saying all these things about mental illness. So I assume also you haven't told her (as a result) about the things you are going through? I feel for you. That must be so hard to hear your mom say that, I'm so sorry. I experience something similar when people talk about autism ignorantly. It's difficult to hear them say those things knowing you can't say anything because you'll "out" yourself. Many hugs.
