I've never (or almost never) found making friends easy. And in the past, many of these "friends" turned on me, often without me being aware of having done anything wrong or even inappropriate

A therapist I saw said the following about me, so maybe it is my "fault" that I have so few close friends

Apparently, I'm..

1. not "endearing"
2. not (edited)

In other words, a complete ... :-(

And no suggestions were made on how to undo these ?? (sigh)

So I suppose I

Although when I first saw this therapist he had plenty of good things to say about me, I wonder if he was thinking of his fat wallet and actually was lying and pretending to like me?

Another therapist I saw for about a year had a few "choice" things to say as well... She said my "social phobia" had got worse. In fact this wasn't the case, I stopped going to see her because her voice and some of her mannerisms reminded me of the abusive step b(i)tch

I'm sorry, this has turned into a rant .... (edited out some programmed "self abuse" (sigh)

PS actually it's pretty scary and very sad that some people who surely should know better view some perfectly good people who are paying them for their "help" in such negative terms.

It only reinforces the abuse from the Narcissistic abusers in the family of origin. And I wish I hadn't been brainwashed and programmed to accept further abuse and disrespect as "normal" and even possibly "deserved"

If any therapist I saw today treated me so shabbily I would be out of the door for the last time on that very same day, and would be seriously considering putting in a complaint.

Even if I had already been seeing that "therapist" for years and only today they showed me their true colours (and their Narcissistic darkness )

This is an important insight. Early conditioning by malicious people (parents or others) can set up a person to "accept" abuse repeatedly throughout life.

Fuzzybear, did the therapist offer explanations beyond those labels?

Fuzzybear "not endearing" -- *insert wild laughter emoticon here*

No explanations that made any sense or that were in any way helpful.

He also accused me of having a bad memory and taking comments out of context (how convenient? )

It's "unfortunate" that it took me so many years to learn that NO abuse is acceptable

Thanks for your reply (((((((((( Rohag ))))))))))
