I just signed up for this site
I am in therapy for depression and loneliness.
I have anxiety doing new things and going new places. I am 37 years
old living in queens NY , I live alone and have a pet dog.
I work a great deal and don't have any kind of friends or social life.
I was told about this site to see if I can get advice or to find someone
on here who can relate and would like to get to know me and see if we can become friends. I need to get out of my comfort zone and make friends
please reply
Thank you
Hugs from:
Fuzzybear, kaliope, qwertykeyboard, Ruftin
Thanks for this!

Hi vittci. Welcome to Psych Central (PC). I am sorry you have suffered from multiple challenges plus feel isolated. Glad you have joined our community. It has been a slow process over the last year, but I have become more active in the community and it has helped balanced out my isolation on the outside.

Many people here at PC find they can share these feelings and what they are going through with the confidence that people go through similar things and can empathize. So many forums are offered as well as Chatrooms (after you have 5 posts or comments on others posts). Depression chat meets on Thursday night at 9pm EST and Anxiety Wednesday at 8PM.

You can also be an active member in other ways like supporting others in their questions, reading articles and posts http://forums.psychcentral.com that are applicable to your area of concern.

Please feel free to private message me or any of the Community Liaisons by left clicking on the name in blue to the left of their post) for questions or just to share.

Welcome to PC. I am also new to this site and also do not have much of a social life besides work. Maybe we can help each other out.

I empathise totally as i'm in much the same situation. There will be loads of meetup groups in NYC. Just pick a few that match your interests and make the effort to go them. I joined a group that does walks in and around London and went on one yesterday. I had to force myself a bit to get out of bed early and get a train to London but I had a oood day, met some nice people ( coincidentally some new Yorkers), got a bit of exercise and saw places that I wouldn't normally have seen. so I would recommend a walking group ( you could prob even take your dog). It's not easy and you will have to force yourself at first but it gets easier. Don't let time drift by and end up with regrets that you didn't do something to change things. Feel free to pm me if you want.
