Kira is from Finland. She is not like your "stereotypical" Finnish person. Here are the stereotypes she thinks are true, but do not apply to her.

-All Finnish people are gamers or metalheads, usually both.
-They all know English at a professional level, and prefer English to Finnish.
-They also have British accents.
-They are all satanists or atheists.
-They are all good at technology.
-They all like hockey.
-They only care about video games.
-They all are Star Wars, Doctor Who, or anime fans.
-All Youtube videos from Finland are either gaming or videos in English.

Now for what defines Kira.
-She likes R&B and pop music.
-She knows only Finnish and French.
-She is a Christian.
-She has trouble finding Finnish language fashion videos (or anything that is not gaming or in English) on Youtube.
-She likes superheroes, but no modern comics are in Finnish.
-The only games she plays are Candy Crush and that one game with the black squares.

From your other posts it appears that you are concerned about your neighbor in California and how her cultural beliefs are affecting her life. You also seem to be reaching out to find methods of changing what Kira believes your cultural norm. I.E.: what you believe.

I would advise that sixteen year old girls tend to change there outlooks on life frequently. Being that she is your neighbor as opposed to your family member. Perhaps you should consider allowing her to acclimate (old French origin) to the new culture she lives in naturally. She will likely adopt new ideas and new outlooks if the new culture of teens in California aren't receptive to her existing thoughts and beliefs.

I would look more to yourself as to why you feel compelled to change her or intervene immediately being that:

A. She is your immigrant neighbor.

B. She is in no immediate danger for her view and societal judgments from others isn't very helpful to a young girl finding her way in the world.

First of all, you got things a bit wrong:
1. She is from Finland, but speaks French as a second language, and not the stereotypical English or Swedish. She would probably speak Finnish and French her whole life.
2. She is afraid of English, and has hatred towards it because she thinks the British are taking over Finland.

I don't like stereotypes either! Based on what I see on the internet, these Finnish stereotypes are becoming more and more true!

Finnish isn't a common language, so not much TV shows and superhero comic books are made. And stereotypically speaking, the Finnish are more into gaming and internet trolling. (stereotypically in English, of course!≈

I have read back thorough your posts .. I am totally confused

Does she want to live in the USA or Finland..... Speaking in English would help her in some situations in this country (USA) But not everyone here speaks English.

If shes all bent out of shape about Finland and what they teach or don't teach, then why doesn't she go back and get involved in possibly make some changes.

Does it really matter what her likes and dislikes are if shes just your neighbor? I guess shes your friend?????

Making lists of her likes and dislikes? Sure you are going to get advice here.. I am just not sure what type of advice that you do you want ? Do you want us to say "she should learn english" " she needs to stop being worried about what Finland is teaching kids" ?????????

Again, people think she's imaginary because of the stereotypes above. It seems like everyone in Finland is forced to learn English. To Kira, that's just sad. Kira thinks like those "All American" people who get crazy at Hispanics for speaking Spanish in the US.

Yes. I feel for Kira. She cannot live on these stereotypes. She seems like she wants to be different than everyone she has seen with these stereotypes.

Actually, Kira was born in Finland. She lives here in the US. She does not want to move to France or Canada, which I think are better choices for her.

But what can I do? I'm not Kira's mother. I just take care of her when mom or dad are out. We are good friends. I speak some French, but Google and my phone have been good life changers.

And, she loves the American life and our rich history. She is not interested in Canada, but curious about France.

I'm sorry this situation is confusing me also. Perhaps you shouldn't invest so much (emotionally) in someone who isn't related to you. It really isn't good for your own emotional health.

Just tell her you have different opinions and leave it at that. Agree to disagree.

I don't believe at 16 she can make decisions where to live.

No I am not from Finland but from elsewhere in Europe and also travel overseas a lot as well as have family in several European countries and I speak 3 languages so I am familiar with their education system, your knowledge of it is incorrect. You are basing it on what angry 16 year old tells you. No one is forcing anything on anyone.

I am confused on how you presumably an adult are getting brainwashed by 16 year old up to the point that you hate educational system of a country you know little about.

Kira seems to have behavior issues. You said she is screaming and cursing at you. And you says she has lower than average intelligence. That's maybe why poor girl is confused. She might need help but we can't help her as she isn't on here. But I think you yourself might benefit from therapy. You are allowing young girl misbehave and confuse you.
