I'm looking for low key things to do for New Year's Eve date. This will be our second date, so hanging out at one or the other's place won't work very well yet.

Any ideas?

If there are free fireworks anywhere your area go for a stroll with a picnic basket and watch them.

It's too cold here to have a picnic and watch the fireworks. I think the warmest it's been at night is 40F.

I am always having fun reading suggestions from people from different regions. It's the second person from overseas suggesting picnic. It's winter here and it's brutal cold or lots of snow in some regions. Picnics just are not doable.

In the past when I dated, I'd do movie and dinner or lunch and movie. Or lunch and window shopping at a mall or if not too cold walk in town look at lights afterwords. Actual eve you could be back to your own house. I wouldn't do late evening date yet

The movie idea is good, but make sure it is an uplifting one. My parents saw Les Miserables one New Year's Eve and felt sui after.

Window shopping or a movie you can both agree on sound good. How about a board game? Seriously. There are some really interesting ones out there these days, it doesn't have to be Yahtzee, Monopoly or Battleship.

Ha yes okay I forgot you're in the Northern Hemisphere. Christmas Day as it is here in Australia is going to be hot as hell.

In some places there are special dances. Buffet dinner.
By me they sell tickets to New yrs eve party's at the Queen Mary boat. The Country Club at the golf course.
Some cities have events you may be able to find online.

If we were to play some board games, where would we play them? A coffee shop?

A lot of coffee shops welcome board gamers. It sounds like a good second date activity. Public place, shared activity, and lets you talk and get to know each other more.

I hope your date goes well for you.

I was thinking the same thing, a coffee shop and play board games or cards. Barnes and Nobles? guess the non chains would be open versus the chains.......idk.

I think a concert or a play would be fun

Also, i don't know if u guys have this in your town or not but they have these places u can go and paint pottery.

Maybe go out for a banana split?

We have pottery painting place! It just might not be open on New Years but it's an awesome idea for a date
Thanks for this!
