I don't know if this is the correct place, but I need some advice. I was involved with trying to oust the HOA Board where I live. There were 7 of us, ready to take over the Board, but the plan back fired.

We got 5 of 7 to resign and we managed to get 2 of our members appointed. I was not one of them as I was quite critical of the old boards do nothing attitude for over 7 years. I have complaints with the 2 old board members and think they should have resigned as well. They do not follow the cc&r's where they are personally concerned. They were instrumental in me NOT getting appointed!

This morning I received a call from a NEW Board member, someone who was not involved in the ousting, and he wants me to help with "work of the board". I have not called him back. He also doesn't follow the cc&r's and is an aggressive bully, IMHO.

My thought is that I wasn't good enough for them to "choose me" so why should I do their job for them now?

Of course, if I don't agree to help, he will spread it around that I am uncooperative and make me look bad.

Any advice at all??? Thanks in advance.

Hello hannabee: I don't know as I have any particularly useful suggestions for you here. I live in a hoa townhome & I was on the board for a while. My personal opinion of these things is that they're so fraught with interpersonal conflicts & conflicting objectives, as well as being riddled with lack of adherence to any of the applicable rules & regulations, that the whole process is simply not worth the bother. I guess somebody has to do it. But it certainly won't be me a second time around.

Having written that, my recommendation for what it's worth is to stay out of it. You're not on the board. But you'll certainly be blamed by anyone who doesn't like what is going on as well as by anyone who is who thinks they can use you for cover. Personally I don't give a rip what anyone else in our association thinks of me. I don't speak to any of them anyway...
Thanks for this!
