I don't get it. I already fell miserable I had to go to the mental hospital(parents made me) my depression got pretty bad over the last week. This woman who works here told me I need to get over myself(all I said was I do not do drugs) when people there were accusing me of doing some. She was like either in her 40s or 50s. When she first told me to get over myself, I said seriously I am just letting you know that I am not on drugs. She said well I think you are I said I'm not stop accusing me. You're basically saying I'm lying when I'm not. Then she told me again "you are middle aged you should know when to stop talking" I told her I was not middle aged and brought up how I am younger than her. I'm in this age range 16-20. How is 16-20 "middle age" ?

I think that they do. Some people here seem like they don't even enjoy working here, most have been like that in my experience but a few are actually nice too.

Maybe you need a little rest. Stress can take a toll on us and age us. I hope that doesn't offend you. I'm 40 and not a bad looking woman BUT if I play that "guess my age" game they always say 40-45. Which hurts my feelings. And psych hospitals are full of nuts that work there.

the term "middle aged" changes as the life expectancy changes.

life expectancy is the age that humans statistically live for...

example back when life expectancy was that human beings died in their 30's middle aged was between 12-15 years old. when the life expectancy went up to statistically human beings lived to be in the age bracket of the 50 yr-60 year range middle aged was set at 20-30 years old.

now that life expectancy is in the ages of 90-120 yrs old, middle aged is now considered to be 45-65 years.

my point it may be that this friend that called you middle aged may have relatives in an older age bracket where middle aged used to be in the 20's aged bracket.

maybe you can explain to your friend what middle aged is and how it changes over time due to the fact that human beings are living longer.

Koolz, I am sorry, I don't know why the psych units are full off miserable fks. It's been my experience too.
You just have to try really hard to ignore the idiots.
And only listen to what helps.

I'd say you're middle aged when you are 43-48 years old. Calling a teen middle aged is just ridiculous.

This has to be a joke. You could not possibly look middle aged at such a young age. This person must have been pulling your leg or intentionally trying to upset you. I would issue a formal complaint.

16-20 is still a child!

0-20 years old: First Quarter
21-40 years old: Second Quarter
41-60 years old: Third Quarter
61-80 years old: Fourth Quarter
81 and over: Overtime.

And you friend, are NOT middle aged. Fact is, quite a lot of people go into the psychiatric field to escape their own demons. As in, "I can't be screwed up cause I have these initials after my name." But of course, they can be. Your nurse sounds like one of them.

I think she might have meant 'mid-school-aged' perhaps?

I think of 45-55 as middle aged
