Mixed Messages

I talk and people get annoyed. I don't talk and people get annoyed. I talk very little and people get annoyed.

I do things and people get annoyed. I don't do things and people get annoyed. I do very little and people get annoyed.

I follow instructions and people get annoyed. I don't follow instructions and people get annoyed.

I lie and people get annoyed. I tell the truth and people get annoyed. I don't say anything at all and people get annoyed.

Sometimes there is just no winning and I don't just mean at work, but I also I mean my relationships with family and friends.

I like people to be up front with me and not sugar cote things and I certainly don't like it when people give me "mixed messages".

If I'm doing something wrong, tell me that I'm screwing up and how to fix it. Don't be too gentle about it because I probably won't take you seriously but also don't resort to throwing insults or name calling or I will repay you in kind.

That's just me though.

I agree with you, because at work people nitpick on me when I screw up and don't give me advice on how to fix it. They expect me to figure it out on my own and when I do, they still get angry with me. People who sugar cote things make me sick to my stomach, but being honest with me in a mean way that hurts my feelings upsets me too. Can't people just find a way to be honest without hurting my feelings?

Yeah.. resorting to throwing insults and or name calling is not exactly cool...

Why would anyone like to receive mixed messages. Mixed messages are tools people use to manipulate other people's feelings about them. Yuck!

Just tell me the truth, because I deserve to be treated with respect. If you can't respect me, then you're a waste of my time.
