My girlfriend is paranoid about stuff sometimes (eg. Thinking people are looking at her when we're in public, likes locks on her doors, makes her Facebook private or deactivates when she sleeps) she is pretty socially withdrawn and will sometimes get into moods where she seems emotionally aloof or depressed (she talks to people on the internet often though so maybe not completely socially isolated) but other times gets into moods to do stuff outside. she's weird about what she wears (only wears black and white cause other colors bother her if she wears them) has a distorted sense of what she looks like often hates how she looks but other times likes how she looks, is pretty impulsive and will randomly want to cut her hair and dye it a different color if she's stressed. She has social anxiety doesn't really like to be in public, sometimes will be sensitive to light or smell she says she gets mild hallucinations sometimes (hears mumbling sometimes or her name being called, sometimes sees things in objects or sees a shape for a bit) she was diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder and panic disorder and prescribed antipsychotics which she doesn't wanna take cause the side effects she also has a benign tumor in her frontal lobe
My friend says she's been like this since he's known her and he doesn't suspect schizophrenia he doesn't seem to be worried as much as I am. my anxiety is making me think of worst case scenarios I guess I wanted to talk about it to relieve some of my anxiety without bothering her anymore that I already have |

Could the tumor not be the culprit?

If she doesn't want to take the exact antipsychotics that she's been prescribed; there are ones that have visibly less side effects as your body adjusts to them - less weight gain, less soggy feeling etc until you barely notice you're taking them.
It's worthwhile her speaking to her treating doctor about alternatives. |

I agree with Crazy Hitch. Could you get her to agree to go to another pdoc for different meds? I guess it could be the tumor but it doesn't sound like it. Good luck.

I don't think it's too abnormal to have mild experiences with audio/visual hallucinations on occasion, such as thinking you heard your name called, phones ringing, seeing a form you think may be something or a person when you look in a direction but it dissipates, etc. this happens to me as well with pretty bad stimulus sensitivity (like light) and clothes sensitivities. Actually i do everything you mentioned except disable fb because i dont socialize online or on fb generally. I was diagnosed with gad and social anxiety also.
It definitely sounds like she has GAD so she should work with her pdoc to try to find a medication that she is actually comfortable with. |
