I have a great deal of energy and enthusiasm, I'm also impulsive and tend to act first and think later. I have two friends who are recent enough friends (our friendship has been building over the last 3 years) but now we are very close and have a whatsapp group that we talk in every day. The thing is, I send a lot of messages. If something happens or something funny or important comes into my head I send a ream of messages straight away and I'm starting to worry I'm going to drain them. I've noticed they don't always reply. I had a friend in the past who ended our friendship because I was not giving her enough space and she could not deal with the amount of messages I was sending. I have a huge fear this will happen again but I can't seem to control it. I wish I knew why I was this way! I can't seem to think a thought and be ok with keeping it to myself. I'm like an open book, I tell people everything. But I really wish I wasn't. I guess in a sense it's a boundaries issue.
Can anyone relate? Is there anything I can do to stop? It's so hard to control the urges. Thank you |

Could you instead write these messages into a journal for yourself? That way you could get it out, and nobody would feel overwhelmed.

I agree, maybe write some of the messages to yourself so that none of your friends feel overwhelmed. I hope your friendships grow in a healthy way and that your friends are kind, as you deserve
![]() Also maybe share more on here, very few of us bite nice people ![]() ![]() (At least not on purpose.. posting here may also help you learn more about boundaries)

I agree with scaredandconfused and Fuzzy. Writing it down would be helpful in getting it out of your head so you're not preoccupied with it but not overwhelming your friends. I empathize with you. I have a tendency to text/call my daughter too much while she's at college and I've had to work hard to reign it in. Best wishes.
