They get those photos stolen of various sites like Facebook. Those people whose pictures they use are victims of identity theft in a way as their pictures are stolen and used in criminal activity. Yes scammers usually use pics of nice looking people.

Yeah, unfortunately I would never send money to someone I don't know. No matter how close we became online. I have loaned money to friends before, but they were people I'd known a very long time, personally, and I knew why they needed it. And I ended up just giving it because they were going through stuff and I just wanted to help, because that's what friends do.

But I cannot imagine ever giving or loaning money to a boyfriend, much less to an online boyfriend. Like, it just seems like a line that shouldn't be crossed.

These people are criminals. People who get into these situations are victims of a crime. Many crimes could be avoided if victims did something different, like didn”t walk alone in a dark or didn’t leave their doors unlocked. They are victims even if they brought it upon themselves.

Same here. It’s no matter if what they did was ridiculous like gave money away, they are still victims of a crime.

And people do bizarre things especially when it comes to money when they are caught in a vulnerable state or certain condition (mania). People of all walks of life become victims of various type of scammers. Not just romance scammers

Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't mean it like that. I didn't intend to come off as victim blaming. Absolutely they are not to blame for getting scammed. I'm just saying the scammers don't work on me because I have a personal code about sending money to people I don't know. I didn't mean it that others are to blame for their own victimization if they don't have that same code.

And yes, people do all sorts of bizarre things with money. Myself included. Took a terrible car loan a few years back and still recovering from it. Why? I was in an emotional state and anxious and didn't really examine all the details closely enough. Lesson learned.

Sorry again, my intent was not to blame the victims, just state why the scam doesn't work on me.

He is maybe using his phone? My phone autocorrects crazy things or my fingers push wrong buttons.

I don't know. I'm letting it go because it was just an initial interaction so I will see how he responds in the future. But it's a yellow flag to me. I know it wouldn't be for everyone, but it is for me.

That’s totally off. I’ve seen similar things. He’s revealing too much and giving too much detail but st the same time communication is a bit of an issue because he’s in the country and then out of the country. What it seems here is like he’s trying to paint a picture to see what can attract. He probably would expect for you to reveal as much as he did whether his is true or not. I would not even respond and skip that. Think about this. How
Many strangers in your life have told you this much info that’s true with all of that detail. Doesn’t make sense at all.

Lack of education is a turn off for me. Not even a yellow flag, it’s simply a NO. But I am just thinking there could be other reasons (not a native English speaker? Has big hands and can’t hit the right buttons? Ha). I got yelled at on here for wrong word choice once but I am triangular (with English being #3)so it’s bound to happen at times.

Yeah, okay, so, since you said it, lack of education is a big turn off for me too. And since I'm a professional writer, I highly value the use of the English language. So yeah, when I see certain typos, I get turned off. BUT, I do recognize that mobile devices and such autocorrect and screw us up all the time. I've seen numerous typos I have made on here while using Tapatalk from my phone, and just SMH.

I try and go by the rule that it's just social media, so perfect grammar and spelling is not required. But intelligence is a big turn on for me, although it's been my experience that the more intelligent a man I meet the less compassionate and more sarcastic he seems to be (IN MY EXPERIENCE, NOT ALL MEN). So I feel in a bit of a pickle there, because I can't stand sarcasm or a lack of compassion.
