I am being harassed by my landlord and it is beginning to freak me out a little bit. I've lived here for three years and have always paid my rent,
don't bother anyone or disturb my neighbors. Keep in mind that I'm the
only one living here that isn't a convict, a drug dealer or involved in a
very abusive relationship. In one case, all three.
Things were cool until last fall when he went off on me. He screamed at me and told me how effing crazy I was and was quite abusive. Not because of any my issues-he doesn't know about that-but because I am
the victim of a stalker.
This is a small town, 50 K, in the NW and very backward. Though 30 million people are stalked in this country every year, mine is imaginary.
So this guy has been telling everyone who moves in that I am out of my mind and they should stay away from me. Yeah, that's illegal.
But I was living on my service pension only and once I moved in here, I
was stuck. After I found out he lied about the cockroaches. Like he does to everyone who moves in.

So it's been seven weeks since the hospital and since I started getting my retirement in Nov. I am renting a small washer/dryer that needs no special hookups. There is a washer/dryer in the basement but it's FREE. So it's not costing him any additional money. And it's whisper
quiet.
The problem--he has turned the water pressure down in my kitchen so
that it barely dribbles out with both faucets turned on full force. The only way I can use my washer is by dumping heavy bucket's of water
into it.
I am not supposed to be lifting heavy things. I am not supposed to have any stress. But this is a landlord state and no lease. So he can evict me at any time without a reason.
I am confounded by this behavior and trying not to let it bother me. But to have someone hate you because you are a victim? Stalking isn't
about sex--99% of the time it's about revenge. This state has one of the highest suicide rates in the country, yet recently they cut most of the mh programs. Makes no sense.
I've spoken to Legal Aid but they can't do anything unless he turns it off completely.
Any advice on how to frame this for the next couple of months until I can get out of here?
(And he finally figures out this little old lady can be diabolical? My
cat is smarter.)

what a horrid situation, Flower, thanks for daring to post about it~!
can you make anonymous calls to the water department ? i don't want you to get evicted, but is there any way you can get to the water valve ?
maybe calling the health department and reporting vermin would get him evaluated... i don't understand how a state can allow such legal abuse, but i do know about jeopardy, and it sucks~!

(P.S. usually, there is no way to turn down the water pressure to just the kitchen, and not the bathroom, unless it's in your apartment... )

It's okay. I TOTALLY believe in karma. Mean Girl might not come out but I can feel her rustling around in there. Like, 'If you want me to behave,
you better DO something about this.

Karma isn't always random, ya know.
