I think another red flag is how the drama has to revolve around them. They can sit with you as long as the conversation revolves around "them", and when you need to talk about your challenges they suddenly don't have "time" to sit and talk anymore. They don't really "feel" for you instead they constantly need you to "feel" for them.

Hello Open Eyes, I am glad you have done just that! I am sorry but the world is full of people that only care about themselves, only want to talk about themselves and dont have time to listen to others that want to discuss their issues or anything else for that matter. I have been fairly sucessful in cutting them out of my life and am much happier for doing so!

I am amused by this one friend I have who does just that, makes everything about them! She really does this! Whatever anyone says, she makes it about her. When you see through this in someone, it is rather hilarious.

And together with being the center of the drama, if there isn’t any drama then they create it. There’s a lot of power in being able to turn minor problems into crises and emergencies. The last couple of years I was living with my wife she must have told me dozens of times I needed to take an emergency family medical leave to deal with my younger daughter who was “spinning out of control” but only my wife believed that, and when various psychiatrists and social workers told her she might be part of the problem she became enraged. Even more drama. It was like some wierd narcissistic Munchausens by proxy.
