I need to finish that last thought: Reality can be cruel and very hard to adapt to. People do sometimes fail to adapt to dreadful circumstances, despite trying their very best. But it is not a "dreadful circumstance" to have your employer enforce the rules of the workplace.

Here's a saying I heard somewhere: "Maturity is knowing what you can get away with." I like that thought. To an extent, it is "tongue-in-cheek." That's what makes it worth pondering. It doesn't set the bar too high. It doesn't admonish us to go out there and be paragons of virtue. It merely advises us not to think we can crap all over society's expectations and think we can get away with it. That's useful advice for everyone.

I've read every comment on this thread, and the question I'm posing is not for the OP but for those replying to the thread...what are YOU getting out of this, spinning around and around in circles, blaming the spinning of circles on Ruby, when really, the thought and thread could have ended at "She doesn't get it". If she "doesn't get it", if "nothing is sinking in", if "she is a manipulator trying to get a rise out of us", what good does it do YOU to continue on "supporting" or "not supporting" her when to be honest, I don't think she ever did state what she wanted out of this thread other then to vent about how life is so unfair. Life's unfair? Okay, life sucks, and sometimes it just doesn't get better because people don't change and we cannot change Ruby, and Ruby cannot change her fast food supervisor's mind to believe what we or her want her to believe no matter how just or sound or rational it seems. Really, what good is this doing you to keep replying and hoping she has some miraculous epiphany that will never happen? Why have a philosophical debate on her mental state and maturity level and the pros and cons of right and wrong when SHE DID NOT ASK FOR IT. Do we need the assistance of the moderators to close the thread before you or she will become too traumatized about how unjust PC is, too? I don't know, but I'll hit that first report button before "someone gets hurt."

Well, Lark, you started off with the germ of a valid line of thought there. It posed what initially seemed like a worthy challenge to the direction the discussion has gone off in. I questioned myself even.

Too bad you didn't stop while you were still making sense. Just the same, thank you for raising a challenge that probably needed to be raised.
