The words ...'I Don't Love You' can be very powerful. I used those exact words on my ex fiancé when I left him...not because it was true, but because it was necessary for him to move on...to find a more suitable match. Yes my words hurt him dreadfully at the time, but he was able to move forward and marry a woman who proved to be much more compatible.

I clarified it even more when I walked away from a 33 year marriage.....I said it was obvious that neither of us knew what love was from the beginning & neither of us loved each other from the beginning. It wasn't a matter of I don't love you like I did before because the love never existed before either.
Conversations we had definitely clarified that fact. It is what it is & was. I have grown so much after leaving I am thankful I did.

Someone once told me they weren't in love with me anymore, and it split my heart into a gazillion pieces and hurt like nothing else. I would never suggest anyone says that to someone. I'd much rather hear, it's not going to work out. We're not compatible enough. Or some other excuse. Anything other than I don't love you.

Actually REAL LOVE is not a camouflage for anything.....all this other crap is just not REAL love & it is camouflage for wishing something to be the way you want it or the way they BS someone into thinking it is. One needs a strong BS radar to not get sucked into relationships like that but be willing to wait for a relationship that really has a real connection between the 2 people.
