I totally agree that Christmas as a rule can be overwhelming and expensive, and so many feel obligated to take it to extremes.....But it doesn't have to be that way. Don't permit others to tell you what you should or shouldn't do...Christmas can be whatever YOU want it to be.

I tend to ignore all the Hoo Ha and concentrate on reserving Christmas Eve and Christmas Day as a time to celebrate making it through the last year...enjoy some of my favourite foods and relax with a handful of friends. I don't make a real big deal of it...and ask others to give me a hand in making the occasion special. No tinsel or Stockings here, just warmth and friendship.

....and 1000 twinkle lights on my veranda porch.
