She's giving me the cold shoulder. Says she won't be there for me. Called my brother, who is also against me moving out. This is how my family is. My birthday is Monday, was trying to hold off. But she pressured me for an answer.

It's really a bare bones place. It's hard enough to move without the added family stuff.

Oh Aviza this really sucks. I am so sorry you are not getting the encouragement you deserve.

There are ways of finding some encouragement and even maybe an advocate. Do you have any sort of support group? Do you have a mental health organisations in your community.

I recently had to face a very big fear and I was able to not because everyone in my family and acquaintance network was supportive but rather all the out pouring of encouragement those in my support group gave me. Maybe if you joined a similar group you might find the same sort of encouragement.

I can relate. When I told my mom I was moving out, to an apartment down the street btw, she cried and made a fuss and said she had breast cancer (she had like the non cancerous type) and I told her I was going anyway. I "persisted". Eventually she came around.

Agree it is hard enough.

I was glad I did it. You have to learn how to live in the world by yourself because mom won't always be there. It is cruel to make you learn those skills once mom is gone.

Well I retracted my statement. I've redone a pros and cons list. I felt I was looking a gift horse in the mouth. My mom wants me to stay. It is mutually beneficial. Financially we are both better off. Emotionally I'm much better off. The thought of being alone in that apartment was really getting to me. My best friend reminded me being alone is a trigger. She supports either decision. She just helps me think it through. My support team will be disappointed but I feel happier. I told mom I'm choosing to live here, I don't have to anymore.
