I have , or rather know some people. , whom I’ve known for MANY years , that
if we disagree about something , or have an argument , then “ won’t talk to me “.
They act like little children. They will cut off communication completely..
These are people that supposedly loved me. Yet they won’t just discuss our differences as adults. I CAN’T STAND this passive aggressive behavior..
If you can’t communicate with me like an adult then I’m just walking
away. I’m sick of always trying “to fix things”.:

Dear moodyblue83,

I can really feel for you. What you describe has happened to me so many times and it is really frustrating to say the least. My heart goes out to you!

Sincerely yours, Yao Wen

Sometime the best thing to do is to walk around.

Sounds like walking away is the healthy thing to do. Sometimes these things can't be fixed.

I know of a couple of people who I have written out of my life because their stance on a certain topic so negatively colors my perception of them that I can't in any good conscience continue to interact with them. Not saying that is what happened in your case, but they've made a choice, for right or for wrong, and it is unlikely you will change their view of the situation.

Not every break in a relationship can, or even should, be fixed.
Thanks for this!

I feel that if people genuinely love you, they accept you despite any differences you might have. So perhaps these people, despite what they claim, are not able to get past something that is within them to fully accept you.

I have been friends with people of other religions, other political orientations, other cultures. It's so important to understand that not everyone is the same and we don't have to share the same beliefs and opinions. It sounds like these people you're talking about don't understand this. I am sorry that it is so painful. It's okay to walk away from people who are not healthy or accepting of you.

How I can relate to this and it's not just friends! Relatives can also do this when they can see no wrong in their words or actions.

You should be accepted for who you are, not who they think you should be.

And sometimes, as we get older/wiser, we can "grow out" of friendships. It could be a disagreement, life taking a different route to theirs, changing attitude. I severed a longstanding friendship because the person she'd become wasn't very nice. It was on the rocks for a while before the final straw was her nasty comments about my (then) newly arrived niece. Strange, as ex-friend had two children by then.
