So, I finally got my results she says my strength is my verbal skills and that can obscure my weakness which is in spatial awareness and organisation. All this explains why I have difficulties at home, my mum however made the appointment about herself and that really irritated me. After the appointment I told her off for it we fought a bit at the store. Well anyway, now there going to get me help for these difficulties and I will have to look for another course the issue with me all the courses that are doable I think are boring and awful. So I'll have to talk to a careers advisor again and then get help with centrelink etc. I'm going to get an occupational therapist and another service to help me they also want me to engage with neami to go to groups with people they teach cooking skills. However, I'm not sure how thats gonna go for my busy schedule. Anyway, the psychologist just confirmed what I knew already nothing I heard today is a surprise. In saying that I'm relieved that I'm not just lazy but that there gonna help me.

Wait, what busy schedule?

And two, of course the courses are "boring and awful". Pretty much any job is. Thats why they PAY you to do it! Thats what "work" is - you trade your free time for money so you can eat and put a roof over your head. Or you try to be someones slave (that is, get married) and they feed you.

Itz what they caĺl "the bottom line". Nobody likes it.

@unaluna

Hey why are you giving blackroses a hard time? Ragging on her like some old nag.

blackroses has mental health problems and is doing her best, is proactive about it and shares her life here. Chill unaluna.

Sorry, i didnt want to nag. I assume we are ALL here because of mental health issues.

Blackroses was NOT born a kardashian. Nobody tells the youth of today that they are not going to be a millionaire basketball or tennis star. Also, nobody tells them how to have a good life in spite of that. In a recent post, i suggested br go work in the garden. This advice for happiness is hundreds of years old. She rejected it. Dont worry about br, she had no trouble telling me what she thought of my advice.

I know what it is to work hard, and to be rejected because im crazy. I am a member of Mensa and i cleaned toilets for a while, so no i dont think that that something being "boring and awful" or she is too busy for it is a good excuse.

It’s very interesting that IQ results are detailed about strengths and weaknesses in certain learning abilities. I did not know about this. IME, the IQ test only gave a number and a 1-2 page summary about the different areas. If I understand what you are saying, you scored high in verbal skills, but much lower in spacial? Are they able to tell, due to those scores, that you have something they can pinpoint as a diagnosis because of that? When I read your post, how you are talking about your lack of interest in subjects being too boring, I thought that you might have ADHD.

I also have been so disinterested in subjects I find boring that I would do anything to avoid having to do it.

Proper IQ tests results are always detailing every different aspect and there are many different numbers on there. Not just one. Often times average IQ can’t even be determined because of all other components. IQ tests aren’t even always accurate because your performance could be effected by variety of things (bout of Tourette’s in the middle of it, mental illness, physical disability, have migraine at the time of the test etc).

One needs more than IQ test for diagnosis. Need achievement or adaptive skills tests or whatever other areas one suspects. IQ test is only one tool. You can’t diagnose just based on IQ. For ADHD diagnosis you need MD diagnosis. Not IQ.

Most classes are boring unless they are for some fun hobby stuff. I love my job. But most classes were not exciting. I’d not choose a career based on how interesting classes look. There are classes that are actually fun but I’d not do it for a living.

The vast majority of people find their jobs boring and awful. That is reality. I have asked before but don't recall the question ever being answered. What is your age? The reason I ask is because you write about things that are adult-oriented but you are very dependent upon others (for example you write in your post about learning cooking skills) so I think "well maybe I am wrong and she's a teenager.

If you are an adult, I think you will have the most success in learning skills that will create a more independent life for yourself. Cooking, paying bills, coping skills for life's problems, will all be things that will give you a sense of accomplishment and assist in helping you create a life that is separate from your mother and sister.

Hahaha about most jobs being boring, sometimes I wish I had a boring job. We have a funny thing with a colleague next door. In the mornings we wish each other “may you have a boring day”. We yet to have one.

But I agree that there are many awful things in every job and most people wouldn’t work if they weren’t paid. So it’s that. For most people picking and choosing or deciding to be dependent is a luxury. Most people have to pay bills regardless of their IQ or disabilities. Life isn’t fair

It comes down to who pays the bills, regarding whether you work or not. If someone financially supports you, and you don’t have to have a job, then you can choose to not have a job. Sometimes the supporting person enables you. Your parents may say they want you to work, but they keep paying your bills. It may also be a mixed message from the enabler where they are really wanting to keep you dependent on them.

How’s it going BR?

It sounds like you’ve got some plan of action to look at those organisational skills, have you chosen a course yet?

I have verbal IQ in the gifted range and awful spatial IQ. I cannot manage street parking at all, can only park if there is no car in front or in the back, cannot park between two parked cars. Some other aspects of driving such as changing lanes on highways are very difficult for me so I avoid highways during rush hour, just never go. I can live with that because I do not have a difficult commute. Yes, IQ testing allowed me to attribute known difficulties to a particular neurological make-up (which is rare), so I felt grateful for it.

Of course it is good to know where things stand so that you can find workarounds and face your challenges head on.

And yes very much verbal strengths obscure non-verbal weaknesses. I sometimes feel like a fraud for that reason because I know that my verbal strengths are deceptive and people I talk with do not realize how difficult it is for me to do advanced spreadsheet operations or drive on a busy highway.

Devine1966, I used to tell people my goal was to have a boring day at work. It never happened. So I understand you wishing a boring day on co-workers.
