So, as the title says this is the second time this has happened to me. People have told me that since I am in recovery this is quite common. I know I went through a rehab program, but I thought I made friends there.

I can't control other's actions, but I really feel crappy. Both times this happened it really seemed like they wanted to see how I was and how I was doing, but then quickly turned to "can I get $20?"

Sorry, just wanted to rant, and was wondering if this ever happened to you, and how did you deal with it?

Sorry to hear that. That’s pretty scummy of them to do. Hopefully you said no. I’ve sort of had that happen before. I’ve recently seen it happen to a good friend of mine.

This mooch she thought was a friend told her she didn’t have any momey despite getting $600 a month in SSI. I know that’s not much, but she was living with her parents, not paying rent, had no expenses, not even car expenses.

She never paid her back for anything. I finally convinced her to cut her loose & she finally caught her in a lie. She was a bad liar. She claimed to have no money for lunch once. My friend said no to paying for things. Then she cane back with a tray full of food. Weird!

Tell these people to please stop asking you for money. If they stop contacting you, then you’ll know they were probably using you.

i sorry this has happend to you ... im also sorry to have gotten to the point to say that in my old age ive turned into a such a full blown cynic that at this point in my life how ive learned to deal with it is by expecting its going to happen so im not taken by surprise when it does.
i regret my bummer outlook on whats happened to you but just know that its always fine and dandy to hope for the best as long you remember not to expect it to happen

Don’t interact with users period. Delete and block their contact info. People like that usually don’t pay you back.
