I understand that. He didn’t ask me for any money. He was just super pushy with asking for pics. I doubt that I was being targeted for laughs as this person did try to give me serious advice.

He also wanted to help me find a job too.

No joker would do that. They gave me very specific advice about lawyers for example. I doubt that a troll would waste to much time trying to give out advice.

They could easily be just trying to see how long you would carry on, not realizing that you were talking with AI. And then, they weren't that stupid: they had you going, right? They could easily be just testing the capabilities of AI. ChatGPT is hugely popular and has taken the world by storm since the launch in November of last year. And generating advice is ChatGPT's specialty.

I think you are projecting your own state on whatever/whoever that was. You are lonely and you are projecting it, attributing loneliness to the entity that you interacted with.
Thanks for this!

Is there a way to tell if you’re talking to A.I? I don’t know much about that apparently.

I do not think you would be able to tell. You just need to realize that it is a possibility and try to avoid talking to strangers whose identity is not known to you. After all, it is a complete waste of your time.
Thanks for this!

As Tart said it could be AI or could be a person. It is not even important. Bottom line is you don’t know who this person or people are. No he wasn’t going to find you a job or be your friend. And no you know nothing about this person or people.
Thanks for this!

OK, never again. I didn’t know that A.I is that convincing until now. Scary!

I think someone already mentioned on here that there’s a possibility this person might’ve wanted to use your pictures for fake profiles etc, there’s no telling what they might’ve been up to.

There’s nothing wrong imo with having online friends, I’ve got a few people I talk to on here who I’ll likely never meet. But it’s a good idea never to give out personal or identifiable information unless you’re sure someone is who they say they are.
Thanks for this!

I remember that. Why not just ‘friend’ someone who posts a lot of selfies on Insta or FB & steal their pics instead? It’d be less work for them, lol 😆

Probably because reverse image search on Google would discover those pictures whereas if you steal privately sent pictures, those will be unique and not discocersble elsewhere.

Stealing is not easier than getting something willingly given to them. Scammers are smart like that

An individual could still do a reverse image search too.

I could still do a reverse image search easily.

TinEye Reverse Image Search

This is the search engine. It’s super easy to use. How can I protect myself against identity fraud if I share pics online?

Anyone can steal pics if it’s not watermarked. Aside from not sending pics, what are my options?

Yes, but if the picture you provided is completely private and not published anywhere, the reverse image search would not bring it up.

Pictures have to appear online for you to search for them. If people give someone a pic that has not bern online, search will bring nothing.

You seem to spend a lot of energy either defending this guy or arguing minor points. Why? Do you still want to continue talking to him or something?

Share your pictures in private. Not public. Like we have a shared google album with my grandsons pics. Only our family has access. Why would you share your pictures with general public? Like people you don’t know in person? Keep it all private. That’s how you protect yourself

I am totally confused by now @jesyka. You have spent a lot of time complaining that you are being forced into posing with others in group pictures, that you do not like having your pictures taken because you have a fat face (I now have a large face, too, so I understand), and that photographers literally harassed you by following you with a camera at events. Now, you are asking how to protect your privacy while sharing your pictures. But if you prefer not to be in pictures in the first place, there would be nothing to share, right?

Tart makes good points. Even if you have pics taken because your friends forced you, why would you share them online if you dislike your pics and didn’t want them taken to begin with?

I wasn’t defending him. I blocked him. I recently called him a crazy freak for getting mad at me for not wanting to send him pics.

I was asking about the pics because I’m curious about that. And the stuff about A.I & motives.
Thanks for this!

What if I posted my pic on Insta where followers can see my pic? My Insta is private but followers can still see pics. I don’t post my private pics on there btw. That’s just an example.

I never said that I posted my pics up. I was curious about privacy issues, that’s all.

I didn’t share my pics online. I didn’t say that. Like I said, I’m curious to know more about privacy issues. I didn’t know much about A.I stuff until now too.
