Hi!

I recently finished reading one of Dale Carnegie's classics 'How to Win Friends and Influence People' and found it quite inspiring.

However, in the Self Help book I read that the advice in the book is not the best for the present times.

If anyone has read the book, would you please tell me in what ways the suggestions in the 1930's book may not be practical today?

Thanks

Hi there,

I've read it and can't see why the advice in it shouldn't apply just as well today as then. It's been a while since I read it but isn't it based on the fact that if we treat people positively/pay compliments /don't behave negatively then they're most likely to respond? (very simply put!).I think people are just as likely to respond to that now as then.Everyone likes to be spoken to that way.

very true. i've experienced it myself that whenever i'm cheerful and polite and if i admit my mistakes then others are considerate of my needs as well.
